Pros

Eto’o’s great pace is immediately noticeable, making him a constant threat on the right flank and on counterattacks. His pace also translates well when making diagonal runs toward goal rather than staying wide.

His shooting ability with his strong foot is top-tier. When cutting inside or arriving in the box, Eto’o finishes chances with confidence and precision.

Despite being known primarily as a goal scorer, Eto’o is good at playmaking. He can combine well with overlapping fullbacks or central attackers, playing quick passes and smart layoffs.

He is also very smooth on the ball, which helps him navigate tight spaces and beat defenders without relying heavily on skill moves.

Eto’o’s physicality adds another layer to his game. For a wide attacker, he holds his own well in duels, doesn’t get bullied off the ball easily, and can shrug off challenges while driving toward goal.

Cons

The main drawback is his 4-star left foot, which is noticeable given his role as a right winger. When forced to cross or shoot with his weaker foot from wide positions, the output can be inconsistent.

Alternatives

Final Verdict

While 120 RW Samuel Eto’o is still a strong option on the wing, he clearly suits his alternate position (ST) better than his natural RW role. As a striker, his weaker foot becomes less of an issue, and his goal-scoring instincts truly shine. On the wing, he feels more like a secondary forward than a traditional winger. Overall, Eto’o is best used as a pacey, physical striker who can still drift wide when needed, making his ST role the position where he feels truly elite.
