For a CM who stays involved in build-up rather than constant forward runs, his pace feels very balanced.
His shooting with his strong foot (right) is one of his biggest highlights. He’s not a striker-type finisher, but for a CM, his shooting output is well above average and can easily decide tight matches.
As an absolute playmaker, this is where Scholes truly shines. His passing range is elite, short passes, through balls, long diagonals, and quick one-touch passes all feel crisp and precise.
His joystick dribbling is decent rather than outstanding. However, he’s not a skill-move merchant, and you shouldn’t expect explosive dribbling past multiple defenders.
Defensively, Scholes offers decent defending ability. He reads passing lanes well, makes timely interceptions, and can poke the ball away cleanly.
His physicality is respectable. Combined with his balance, he feels sturdy during midfield duels.
A major plus is his stamina. Scholes can comfortably last the full 90 minutes, constantly recycling possession.

The main downside is his 4-star weak foot. While it’s not terrible, you will occasionally notice missed opportunities or slightly weaker passes when forced onto his left.

119 CM Paul Scholes is a top-tier midfield controller built for intelligent, possession-based gameplay. He excels at dictating tempo, distributing the ball, and contributing with long-range goals, while still offering solid defensive support and excellent stamina. His lack of flair and the 4-star weak foot prevent him from being “meta-broken,” but in the right system, he’s an elite CM who makes your entire team function better.

Just a few cent review for Scholes on Manager Mode: His work rate is High/Normal (Att/Def), so by seeing it, you would roughly know that his more attacking minded than defensive in nature. He can play both Attack and Defensive Mid with no OVR Penalty once you fully 5 Star him. Do note that his curve shot is 122 shot (and 131 for Volley) and it's not the best numbers but still workable. You can depend on him for dribbling, creating chances and attacking contribution with occasionally taking shots. If you are thinking to set him as a CDM, I would prefer you have another CDM (High Def Work rate) to counter balance his normal def work rate (2 CDMs). Scholes is not a bad card if you need a CM more on attacking behavior. For the last point, there is only 2 options to choose: dribble or awareness. It depends which do you area you want to boost more.
The con side is due to normal work rate on defense, you don't feel that he is rushing back to defend a counter attack.
