Avantages

Pavard isn’t lightning-fast, but he has more than enough pace to keep up with most strikers in his range.

One of his standout qualities. His reaction time helps him adjust quickly to rebounds, loose balls, and unexpected changes in direction from attackers.

This is his bread and butter. He has clean tackling animations, great timing, and reads the game extremely well, his interceptions feel sharp.

Pavard has that strong, sturdy feel where attackers don't easily push through him. His strength, balance, and aggression work together, allowing him to shield the ball effectively and body off attackers during duels.

Inconvénients

Medium/medium work rates, this is his biggest drawback. It means he doesn’t always step up aggressively to intercept nor fully drop back as fast as a high defensive work rate CB. You may need to manually position him more often, especially against fast strikers or high-pressure attacks. He’s still effective, but not the most “auto-defending” style centre-back.

Benjamin Pavard is a well-rounded, reliable centre-back who combines smart positioning, solid pace, and strong defensive fundamentals. He isn’t flashy, but he’s extremely dependable. If you don’t mind managing his positioning at times due to the medium/medium work rates, he can easily anchor your backline and perform like a top-tier CB in his range.
